Navid & Natali: Woodworking

Master woodworker Navid Gholipour based in Cyprus & Cypriot fellow Natali Touloupou
Navid was born in Iran, and is now based in Limassol where he runs Lovenlight studio with his brother Sahand. Previously a graphic designer, Navid taught himself woodworking. His designs merge the diversity of Eastern forms with Western modern design and seek innovation while respecting tradition both in functionality and form.
Australian Cypriot Natali is a versatile graphic designer with a background in tapestry weaving and book design. As a talented designer with a passion for hand crafting and woodwork, she is looking forward to incorporating craftsmanship into her career path.
Cabinet of Curiosity
Drawing inspiration from the Art Deco era, master woodworker Navid and fellow Natali used bold patterns and exotic woods to create a sophisticated aesthetic for this cabinet. Crafted primarily from wenge wood and white oak, it showcases traditional patterns inspired by 600 BCE Cypriot ceramics. These ancient motifs blend with the elegance of woodwork and the delicacy of cross-stitch embroidery, which features on the inside panels of one of the two tambour doors. The cabinet rests on a base with four finely turned legs, providing both stability and charm.
