Alicja & Alicja: Embroidery

Embroiderer Alicja Stańska based in Poland & Polish fellow Alicja Kozłowska

Alicja learned embroidery as a little girl from her father, and enjoyed practising it during her leisure time until the day she decided to change career and make it her profession at the age of 28. Since then, she has mastered both traditional techniques and very sophisticated Lunéville embroidery.

Alicja is an award-winning artist and designer who recently graduated from Domestic Design at the School of Form University. Her goal is to keep the craft of embroidery fresh and current, while preserving the tradition of craftsmanship.

Thread of Heritage

This elegant rotator stand was crafted exclusively for the Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso watch. Master embroiderer Alicja Stańska and fellow Alicja Kozłowska took inspiration from tarot cards to design geometric patterns which they embroidered in silver gloss thread on a deep blue background using the Lunéville technique. This style of embroidery evokes the rich patterns and luxurious finishes often used in fashion, textiles and accessories during the Art Deco period. The blue and silver colour scheme pays tribute to the work of Polish painter and Art Deco icon Tamara Lempicka.
