Eve & Alexandra: Glassblowing

Master glassblower Eve George based in France & British fellow Alexandra Holmes

Eve fell in love with blow moulding glass, a craft she says helps her connect with matter. She studied design at the ENSCI-Les ateliers in Paris specialising later in mouth blowing among other glass techniques.

Alexandra graduated from Plymouth College of Art with a first class degree in contemporary craft specialising in glass. The emerging British glass artist has since worked across Europe in several different glass studios, honing her skills in the material. She is passionate about using her skills to promote gender equality and body positivity.

Matter to Reflect

These twin pieces symbolise the sharing of skills and experiences through a reversible glass form inspired by Art Deco. A blown glass cylinder with a reflective base holds two filigree (‘Filigrana’) spheres, a reinterpretation of a technique from Venice, where French master glassblower Eve and fellow Alexandra first met. The iconic ‘Bristol Blue’ palette pays homage to Alexandra’s heritage in the UK, while aligning with the geometric elegance of Art Deco design.
